We are finishing the summer season. It has been a year in which I have made the most of my removable pool due to special circumstances and now that?
What can we do in winter with our removable pool?
We have three alternatives to removing your swimming pool, although we reject the third:
Option 1: Disassemble the pool
Although it is a bit tedious, we will have to carry out all the steps that we did in spring, but in the opposite direction.
Empty the water: If I am going to reuse the filtering mass next year, I must take advantage of the emptying to abundantly wash the sand or the glass of the filter.
It’s a shame, but in this option the worst of all is to throw so many cubic meters of water down the drain. Keep in mind that it is not just a pool, but the sum of many. And especially in Spain we do not have a very buoyant water situation.
Then you have to clean the liner well, it doesn’t hurt to add some bleach with water and let it dry well before folding it. You also have to clean and dry the support posts well so that they are well preserved for the next season.
Option 2: Keep the water and the pool mounted
Our recommendation is to continue purifying the water for a few hours, periodically dosing disinfectant and covering the pool with some type of canvas or cover that prevents leaf fall and partly sunlight. In this way we will be able to maintain the water with the help of the cold of autumn and winter and be able to reuse the water the following season. We will also avoid bending the linner incorrectly and weakening some areas of it, causing water losses the following year.
Option 3: Do not keep the water and do not disassemble the pool
We ruled out this option from the start, since letting the water turn green will force us to have to empty it the following season, clean the linner (not an easy thing as there is no drain at the bottom) and return to fill. In short, double work compared to the two previous options and no advantage.
